Baltic Environment Forum celebrates it's 10th birthday in Dvarčionys meadow
On 14 October Baltic Environment Forum celebrated 10th anniversary of it's activity handling Dvarčionys meadow that is rich in biologic diversity .
Five years already Baltic Environment Forum (BEF) took care of this 4 ha wide field close to Lithuanian capital Vilnius. We mow grass and cut bushes few times per year. Those actions are necessary to ensure that the field would not grow up with bushes and species diversity would flourish. Dvarčionys meadow is an exceptional meadow having incredibly rich biologic diversity, this office would be proud Every European capital could be proud having this marvellous habitant in its surroundings.
Handling Dvarčionys meadow for BEF team is more than protection of endangered plants species. This is a place where congenials meet for common purpose and where we continue to admire nature assets.
"To celebrate the birthday handling and working hard seems strange decision if you do not know BEF employers, to not understand their thinking and lifestyle. They live deeply with natur e. It is a huge celebration and happiness for them to be in nature and work for its welfare" - Rita Norvaišaitė, a new BEF team member, shares her experience.
Justė Buzelytė, who have handled the meadow 5 times already, says that this process is important for the organisation for having a common goal and team work. According to her, handling meadow strengthens team spirit, helps to relax and gives opportunity to enjoy the Autumn at ease.
BEF team is pleased to see the results of it's hard work. The area of Dvarčionys meadow is increasing as well as number of rare plant population rises. Organisation also hopes than more and more institutions and private companies will take an initiative to take care of selected natural area, regular maintenance will become a tradition for its personnel and being in nature will provide relaxation and community joy. It is a BEF's birthday wish.
