Powerful tractor works in Nemunas delta meadows
Powerful agricultural machinery necessary for restoration of open habitats has already reached Nemunas delta. For the activities of the project "Creation of mechanisms to secure good quality of open habitats in Nemunas Delta Regional Park” tractor, wheel loader, rake, grass residues shredder, straw baler and rear disc mower were purchased.
Using this equipment, the project team will help farmers to mow biodiversity rich grasslands and wetlands. This will be the basis for local community members to implement late mowing that is favorable for birds and to use grass waste unsuitable for fodder or other purpuses for production of biofuels or litter.
Agricultural machinery of a hight floatation will serve the smaller farmers in the late period, helping them to mow the flooded meadows and transport biomass.
